Ductwork Sealing and Wrapping

Ductwork is a connected network of pipes that run from the furnace and AC unit under the house through the dirty crawlspace, delivering heat or air-conditioning to each room in the house. Most systems have a return air or cold air return duct pipe that brings air from inside the home through the dirty attic and back to the furnace or AC unit.

When these pipes have hundreds of tiny air leaks, dirty air from these spaces are drawn into the ducts and blown into your breathing air.

When the duct pipes are not properly insulated, warm air from the furnace cools down before it has a chance to enter the intended room.

Blowing warm air into cold, uninsulated pipes will cause condensation and mold inside your ducts, reducing your indoor air quality.

Building Performance Pros will test your duct system for air leakage, then mastic and air seal all duct lines. After sealing, we will retest to verify a sealed system, and then wrap all duct lines with thermal insulation and a poly vapor barrier.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I highly recommend Building Performance Pros to do your attic and crawl space evaluations, repairs, upgrade and mold remediation. After discovering mold issues in my attic, I spent a lot of time researching the best practices for building science behind attic design and ventilation. I realized that I did not have the time or perseverance to properly address these problems myself. My roofing company recommended that I contact Building Performance Pros for an evaluation. Tyler came to my house and performed a free blower door test that identified a substantial number of air leaks throughout my house. He also inspected the attic and crawl space, and recommended mold remediation in the attic, removal of old insulation, air sealing, installation of new insulation and special enclosures for the access hatches. Everything that Tyler pointed out followed the building science best practices. I knew right away that Building Performance Pros were the right people for me.”
