Air Sealing
Almost no other single subject is as detailed or important as FULLY air-sealing a home.
Typical homes have hundreds of tiny penetrations in attics and crawlspaces for wall top plates, plumbing, electrical, lights, fans, boxes, ceiling height changes, drop ceilings, ductwork, skylights, scuttle doors, and on and on and on.
When upgrading or changing your insulation, nothing is more important than hiring a contractor that can test not only the whole house, but is trained and capable of testing all penetrations, all room pressures, wall pressures, ductwork, attic and crawl pressure differentials, and bath fan CFMs.
This testing is done before, during, and after the air seal process, and homeowners should receive pictures with a written report of results.
Air leaks from inside the house or ductwork are the major pathway for warm, moisture-laden air to leak into cold spaces and condensate.
These small air leaks are the number one cause of mold, heat loss, dust, allergens, and insulation failure.
Just remember, when it comes to air sealing
if you’re not testing, you’re guessing.

“⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
We had Building Performance Pros work on our crawlspace and I would recommend them highly to anyone looking for a fair and competent company to do this type of work. Everyone that we had contact at the company was pleasant and professional. I would especially like to thank the installers, Daniel and Parker, who arrived promptly and worked without let-up the whole time they were on site. They were friendly and did a great job removing our old vapor barrier and duct insulation, installing new, sealing holes, and more. They went above and beyond and we are very pleased with the results.”
